I've had fun choosing photos for the next novels. There is so much material available. This one is from the misnamed Book of the Dead. The scrolls are actually named by section. A favourite of mine is "The Coming Forth by Day," In this picture of a scroll Anubis is weighing the heart of the deceased, standing at the right. On the scale is his heart being weighed against Maat. The goddess is small. She is the Goddess of truth, symbolized by a feather, seen here in her hair. If your heart is light enough, honest enough, it will be balanced on the scale. I love how the artist shows the tubes attached to the heart. On the right watching is Osiris, the God of the after life. A symbol of his power is the WAS sceptre. I has a symbolic head of a jackal and two feet.
